Had a great trip across North Carolina and up to Richmond, Washington, and Baltimore last week. Our 11-year-old daughter Lily was able to tag along because she had not yet gotten to tour DC like the boys have. Well, she showed them! We got to tour the White House with our friend Kate, who works there. Here's a photo of them in front of a classic Sargent.

There were also four portrait sittings, a varnish, and a delivery of this painting outside of Baltimore.

Charlotte is a great girl; she sat for two days to make this portrait. This is unusual for a sitter of any age these days! Her family is so nice; in the time it's taken to do this portrait, Charlotte's mom has become a portrait agent with Portraits Incorporated. Here's a photo from the unveiling party at their house Sunday afternoon.

I am very grateful for what I call 'the best job in the world'.

Where have the last six weeks gone? Painting, drawing, traveling for portraits, doing a show at the gallery... all good stuff. I hope things are going well for everyone.

Things DEFINITELY seem to be looking up. My show at our gallery comes down this week, and the results have been very good. Kim is working so hard! We had a great lecture yesterday with Tryon Art Historian Michael McCue. Mike was good enough to sit for a portrait last year.

And what do I have to show for myself? Some charcoal portraits. An oil portrait recently completed needs to be delivered before it goes on the old blog. It's killing me to wait! But the pipeline is full, so check back...

In the next few months I'm off to New York, Augusta, Greenville NC, Destin, Mobile, Birmingham, Memphis, Atlanta... sheesh. Hope to see you soon!
